The Longleat 10K is not for the faint-hearted — two loops, big hills, with some stunning scenery. From the moment you line up at the start, you know you’re in for something special. Facing the beautiful Longleat House as the race begins is pretty magical…but don’t get too comfortable!
Storm the Fort: Night Race
Unique is the best way to describe this race. Where else would you get the chance to run around a 19th century fort in the dark?
Saltford Santa Dash
This was A LOT of fun. I’m not sure how many people take part, but seeing hundreds of Santas all in field on a Sunday morning is wonderful spectacle.
Cotswold Way Relay
What better way to see the beautiful Cotswold Way than to run it with hundreds of others?
The Cotswold Way Relay has just completed its 33rd year. The event is a ten-stage multi-terrain relay stretching 103 miles from Chipping Campden (north of Cheltenham) to Bath.
Badminton 10k
This event was really well organised with the waves clearly marked for collecting your number. There was also a bag drop.
Great Bristol Half Marathon & 10k
Over 23,000 runners took part this year and, while it was busy, the atmosphere was great and it was very well organised.
The Hogweed Trot
It’s an annual race hosted by the Hogweed Trotters running club and incorporates the Avon Athletics 10km Road Championship. It takes place in Yate (around 12 miles from Bristol) and the entry fee was £23.50.
Cheddar Gorge 10k
Today I raced at the 10k race at Cheddar Gorge, an event organised by Relish Running. There was also a 6k, half marathon, marathon and omnium taking place on the same day.
Bath Half Marathon
Bath Half Marathon is road race organised by London Marathon Events. It costs £56.50 to enter, which is a little on the pricey side, however for what you get on the day, I think it’s worth it.
The Two Tunnels
For full transparency I will say up front that I am a huge fan of Relish Running (but not affiliated in anyway). I’ve been running in their events for a few years now and they are up there with the best races you’ll find in South Wales and the West.
